Styling and photography skills used to create a magazine spread in the style of House & Garden.
The concept I chose for this styling project was ‘Mediterranean Living’ in the style of Modern Mediterranean. The Mediterranean concept allowed me to utilize the natural outdoors but also to add natural outdoor elements when styling interior shots to bring the outside in. Modern Mediterranean style focuses on indoor-outdoor living, spacious, open floor plans, along with Spanish and Italian influences, are evident. I am really happy how this concept has ended up. It is a much stronger concept where I have a more focused idea and visualisation of my final images.
Reflecting on my final magazine, I think I have some really strong images and good location shots to support and add diversity and context. I feel that my concept is very clearly represented, and I have followed the style of House and Garden well. Due to the wide range of images I manage to collate, this allowed me to narrow these down to the strongest images and evaluate which ones worked best as a collective. In the future I think a wider range of products would have helped me to prevent repeating elements however with the time and funds I had available, I feel that my final outcome was very effective and professional.
