A live project, designing 2 bedrooms and 1 ensuite bathroom for client Lord Montagu at Beaulieu Palace House.

Each bedroom includes a bespoke surface design, the north bedroom features a wooden lasercut archway into the bedroom and the blue bedroom features a handpainted wallpaper I created. The designs for each space were inspired by the flora and fauna around Beaulieu Palace and the grounds.

The overall concept for these designs was the 'Mill Pond Walk'. This was the Lords favourite part of the grounds so I used the nature from this area as my source of inspiration.

For the blue bedroom I decided to create an elegant wallpaper to create an overall luxury space. The final design consists of a crane illustration in a tesselated repeat inspired by wildlife found on the Mill Pond Walk. I decided to implement this design within the arches of the room in order to accentuate them and create features. The design was origionally created in many different colour ways but the textured ochre colour way really lifted and brightened the interior and complemented the scheme.

For the bathroom I decided a subtle, elegant design would work best. The final design resulted in an embroidered translucent window treatment inspired by the Mill Pond Walk. The design consists of three insect motifs that are embroidered using blue and yellow thread on white toile. The design is held together by an art deco style tesselation which completes the outcome effectively.

In keeping with the natural theme of the north bedroom I decided to create my own bespoke lasercut archway. This surface design can also be used in other ways for example as detailed paneling or as a radiator cover. I tested a range of designs on the laser cutter but found this one worked the best. I thought the use of curves and organic shapes was the best way to translate a natural design.
